Icon Time Systems Virtual Terminal Installation
Icon Virtual Terminal Installation and Setup Guide
The Icon Virtual Terminal allows remote locations to operate a virtual time clock by linking directly to the central server database. Once connected, each store imports its assigned terminal, activates its office location, and begins using the system just like a physical clock. This process ensures accurate punch collection across multiple locations while maintaining a single centralized payroll database. This installation method was developed for systems from Icon Time Systems and remains a reliable solution for multi-location time tracking environments.
Remote Desktop Setup and Virtual Terminal Creation
Each store must connect to the server and create a desktop shortcut for its assigned virtual terminal. As locations complete setup, the available office list will decrease — making it easier for the final locations to select the correct terminal.
Follow these steps carefully:
• Right-click the Start button
• Select Explore to open the Start Menu
• Scroll on the left side to apps on 2000srv (T)
• Double-click virtual to open the office list
• Locate and double-click YOUR OFFICE
• Right-click the TS Virtual icon labeled “Icon Time Systems”
• Select Send To ? Desktop (create shortcut)
• Close Explorer
Next, configure the database connection:
• Right-click the new TSVirtual desktop shortcut
• Double-click folder (T)
• Open TsourceV7
• Select TSDataV7.mdb
• Choose YOUR OFFICE from the list
• Click OK
• When prompted for size, select Medium
• Close the window to complete setup This links your virtual terminal directly to the central payroll database.
Operating the Virtual Time Clock

To use the terminal:
• Double-click the Virtual Icon on your desktop
• Click the <> box to activate the interface
• Enter punches using the numeric keypad or mouse
• Press ENTER, IN, or OUT as prompted Each punch is recorded directly into the centralized system in real time.
This allows:
• Immediate punch collection
• No local data storage risks
• Centralized reporting
• Accurate multi-location payroll processing
Conclusion or Operational Takeaway
The Icon Virtual Terminal provides a dependable way for remote locations to clock in and out without physical hardware, while maintaining one secure central database. By properly linking each office to the server, creating the desktop shortcut, and selecting the correct database path, businesses achieve real-time punch collection across all locations. Taking time during setup prevents connection issues later and ensures smooth daily operation. Once installed, the virtual terminal delivers the same reliability as a physical clock — with greater flexibility for multi-store and remote environments.
